A botanical art practice by Sherin Siew using pressed plant material as medium and subject.

Dryopteris filix-mas (Male fern)
— Sori formation

Papaver rhoeas (Common poppy)
— Foliar gradients

Corymbia eximia (Yellow Bloodwood)
— Lanceolate leaves

Florascopic is an invitation to slow down and look closely; to read a plant’s form, growth, and response as it is preserved and composed.

Hydrangea macrophylla
— Sepal chromatics

Calocedrus decurrens (Incense cedar)
— Strobili density

Cotinus coggygria cf. 'Grace' (Smoke tree)
— Mineral venation

My work sits at the intersection of art, design, and botany. I grow and gather plants—most satisfyingly those raised from seed in my garden—selecting them at moments of peak form, then preserving and composing them through careful arrangement to bring their structures into focus.

Inspired by flora as self-organising life forms shaped entirely by time and place, the work reveals pattern as the visible logic of growth and invites close observation as an ethical act.

If attention defines value, then learning to see plant life more clearly influences how we care for the systems that sustain us.
